This semester we’re running a special weekend masterclass / workshop for all the 3D artists and character sculptors out there: a primer to AAA 3D Character Art with professional industry artist Chris Wells.
THIS WORKSHOP WILL COVER:
- basic forms + organic modeling fundamentals in ZBrush
- baking and texturing workflows in Substance Painter + Photoshop
- useful tips and tricks for character art and game engines
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Born in New Jersey, Chris spent high school in Atlanta and attended University of Georgia, then trained at Walt Disney. Chris has worked for Ubisoft, Epic Games, and Boss Key, on franchises like Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Unreal Tournament, Gears of War, The Division, Fortnite, and the Apple TV show Mythic Quest.

REQUIREMENTS:
- You need some basic 3D art experience in modeling / texturing already; this lesson is not for total beginners.
- You must bring a suitable laptop with mouse or tablet, and the following software already downloaded, installed, and activated: ZBrush (pixologic.com) Substance Painter (substance3d.com) Photoshop (adobe.com) Handplane baker (handplane3d.com)/. All these tools have free trial versions, student licenses, and educational discounts. Unfortunately we are unable to provide any equipment or software during the weekend.
- You must be prepared to learn and work for 6 hours for both days; this is a weekend intensive taught by an industry professional.
FACILITIES:
Free guest wi-fi.
Desk space with rolling chair.
ADA Accessible with floor space to accommodate wheelchairs, elevators, and no steps.
Single-occupancy gender neutral bathrooms are available, as well as dedicated lactation rooms.
REGISTRATION:
The entire workshop is limited to only 40 seats.
Please register only if you meet the requirements and will attend for the entire weekend, otherwise someone else could’ve used your seat.
