Ben Haderle

Hello! I’m Ben. I’m a game designer, programmer, and writer. In 2015 I graduated from Los Gatos High School in the San Francisco Bay Area and now I’m a student athlete studying game design here. I did some QA work for Sixense back in 2014 and I was an instructor at iD Tech Stanford during 2016 teaching teens how to use game engines. I love backpacking, skiing, and generally just hanging out in nature.

Why are you studying games?
I'm studying games because I like to make things that whir.
Describe your favorite project made by a classmate.
There was this game who's genre was "cyberpup." It was a cyberpunk world with a bunch of dogs in it. That was pretty great. There was another that was all about getting lost in the subway and I loved the mood of it.
Describe one memorable lecture, assignment, or exercise you've had at the Game Center.
Proceduralist v. Anti-Proceduralist debate in Game Studies. Very heated. Very passionate.
How has the Game Center changed your thinking about games?
It's given structure to a lot of loose thoughts I had flying around in my head. I can tackle problems much more methodically now.
What do you hope to accomplish after school?
I want to make games that I want to play!
What's your favorite New York City spot?
Running along the edge of any of the islands.
