Mostafa Haque

Game narrative designer from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Loves: video game storytelling, emotional narratives, making bad puns. Dislikes: Cabbage, delayed train traffic, hearing bad puns.

Why are you studying games?
The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 was one of the first games I played that had voice-acted lines and a storyline more complex than "Save Princess, Win" Not only did gameplay make me relate to the characters in a way books never had, the sheer amount of narrative conveyed purely though the environment sparked my imagination.
What's your secret weapon?
My arsenal of puns
Describe one memorable lecture, assignment, or exercise you've had at the Game Center.
Making the sequel to a previous work chosen by your classmates. It really gave me perspective on what my strengths as a designer are and the kind of work I've made that's appealed to people the most
What do you hope to accomplish after school?
World domination. If I can't have that, I'd settle for making an amazing video game, I suppose.
What's the last great game you played and what's great about it?
The Witcher III's probably sealed its place as my favorite game of all time - at least for the foreseeable future. What's best about it is the way it manages to make sidequests just as appealing, nuanced, and interesting as the amazingly, well-written main storyline and maintain consistency throughout the game world.
What's your favorite New York City spot?
Washington Square Park on nice days. The Game Center kitchen on not-so-nice ones.
