The NYU Game Center Equipment Inventory
All Game Center students and faculty have access to an expansive, ever-growing inventory of gaming, A/V, and computing equipment to make the technical needs of game development much easier. During operating hours, students can check out video game controllers, keyboards & mice, computer monitors, audio and video recording equipment, and more for their course work. In addition to our general tech inventory, we provide specialty VR, streaming, and non-digital equipment.
VR Equipment
Students looking to develop games in VR or simply play VR games have access to an inventory of VR equipment. This includes Oculus Rift headsets & touch controllers, and VR carts equipped with gaming PCs & HTC Vive sets.
Streaming Equipment
For students interested in live streaming either on their own or as part of a Game Center course, we can provide the equipment necessary to do so. Our current inventory includes Elgato HD60 capture cards for home use, and a specialty streaming cart – also used for broadcasting Game Center Live and Five v Five Fridays – for onsite use. While our streaming cart’s equipment is always changing in order to keep up with high quality A/V standards in live streaming, students will have access to the essential inventory to get their streams up and running. The cart includes a gaming PC, an audio interface, wireless & tabletop microphones, capture cards for multiple video feeds, a full frame DSLR camera, and LED lighting.
Prototype Cart
The Game Center’s prototyping carts supply students and faculty with a variety of materials used in designing and drafting non-digital games. This includes several crafting materials, playing cards, D4 to D20 dice, blank cards & dice, poker chips, stones, fake money, a variety of player pieces & tiles from classic games, Lego bricks, timers, and much more. These materials are free to use and constantly replenished so students always have access to the tools they need for their games.
