My name is Turner Romey and I am completing a dual major in the Tisch Game Design BFA and Tandon Computer Science BS programs. I grew up in Pasadena, California and have a deep love for sunlight and the ocean. Looking forward to working in the industry as a developer and engineer. I fell in love with the complex systems that overlapping game mechanics can develop. This stems from my long lasting love of EVE online and games that encourage player agency and creativity while playing. I have found an interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning during my time here at NYU and I look forward to implementing these systems during my career. I find it interesting the way more complex algorithms look to “solve” a game. I also find the practice of “balancing” AI between different skill levels through repeated targeted playtesting entertaining. My love for EVE online as a kid probably reinforced some of these ideas as I constantly look to min-max every game I play.
