Seth Zamir Royston

Seth is a game design student from Honolulu. His likes include cats, learning languages, and New York bagels. His taste in games is broad, but he has a soft spot for stylish indie experiences.

Why are you studying games?
I loved playing video games since I was little, and had been working on them as a hobby as far back as high school, but hadn't even considered studying games as an option until I heard about the NYU Game Center! Since then it seemed an obvious fit. I love programming, writing, making music and visual art - I basically enjoy every aspect of making games.
How has the Game Center changed your thinking about games?
The Game Center really opened my eyes to how huge of a touchstone games are in modern culture. I'm now thinking about games much more openly and holistically, and I'm positive this new view of games is already deeply affecting my design and ideas.
What do you hope to accomplish after school?
I'd love to work in an indie team and make games that people will find memorable.
What's the last great game you played and what's great about it?
NieR: Automata is a game with a beautiful soundtrack, a fantastic subtextual story, and one of the most affecting endings in not just games, but media as a whole. I'm definitely glad I completed it.
