Procedural music generation using body movement

Body Music procedurally generates music using physical motion, allowing the player the freedom to express themselves with music created from their movement.

However, you’re working against a controlling system, whose chains are slowly being drawn down from the ceiling and any contact with them will trap a part of your body, limiting your expression.

Without any points, goal or Game Over, Body Music is a free-form tool which besides connecting physical motion with aural creativity, explores the conflict between developer authorship and player agency.

Body Music was made during the 48-hr ALT.CTRL.JAM held at NYU Game Innovation Lab in November. It was given the “Judges’ Choice” award for that event.
