A system at the heart of the “JRPG” genre, students will critically play and examine a number of incarnations of the combat system contained within an array of titles from the past 40 years. This is specifically about the moment-to-moment decision making, visual presentation, and mechanical/resource relationships between entities. (Things outside the scope of the class would be stuff like progression/leveling or narrative systems.)
