Be a part of the biggest global game making event of the year! On Friday, January 23rd, thousands of game makers will gather in hundreds of cities around the world to create games around a shared theme. Each year the Global Game Jam gets bigger, and this year our goal is to make New York City the biggest site in the world.
Taking part in the Global Game Jam can mean making a game for the first time ever, experimenting with a technology you’ve never used before, collaborating with people you’ve never met before, or finding an idea for your next big game. Past NYU Game Center Global Game Jam games have included award winning games like “How do you do it?”, Mushroom 11, Lucca, and “Problems…”. Past NYC jammers have made games for a 3D holographic display, a game with a live fortune teller, and so many more ambitious and innovative designs.
Be at the Game Center at 5PM on Friday to hear the theme announcement, meet other jammers, and starting working on at game. Starting at 5PM on Sunday, a selection of judges from NYU Game Center faculty and local NYC Devs will give some awards for everything from Best Game Design to Best Game Made by Total Strangers.
