The NYU Game Center is pleased to announce our second annual game design Master Class, led by game designer, teacher, and author Steve Swink. The class is a two day, hands-on workshop that is open to both NYU students and the general public.

Steve is the author of Game Feel, a deep exploration of the subtle aspects of a video game’s design that combine to create its overall sensory impression in the mind of the player. He is also an accomplished designer who has worked at Neversoft, Flashbang Studios, and Enemy Airship, and is the creator of the in-progress indie sensation Scale. Steve is the co-chair of the Independent Game Festival and teaches game design at the Art Institute of Phoenix.

The Master Class is appropriate for both professional game developers with several years of experience in the industry, as well as students and those just beginning their careers. Exercises will focus on high level game design concepts and best practices, and will result in collaboratively designed, playable games.

This two day workshop will be held at the Game Center on Saturday 7/28 and Sunday 7/29 from 10AM to 5PM. Space is limited, so those interested in participating must purchase tickets.  Tickets available here:

General Tickets – $300
Non-NYU Students, NYU Alumni, & 3 or more ticket group discount – $250

Students must bring laptops to the workshop.  If this is not possible, the Game Center can provide a limited number of computers. Students must request this in advance by contacting us at
