New York is making games all over the state! This past April, we were excited to take part in to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s tenth annual GameFest! The weekend-long festival celebrated the best in game design, art, and innovation from schools all over New York state, including RPI, Rochester Institute of Technology, Champlain College, and the NYU Game Center, and featured a student game showcase and competition, a keynote from Leigh Alexander, and a panel on the future of design with Matt Boch (Harmonix), Michael Nitsche (Georgia Tech), Jake Elliott and Tamas Kemenczy (Cardboard Computer).
We’re proud to announce that out of over thirty of the best games from the four schools in the GameFest Showcase, MFAs from the NYU Game Center took home four awards. We’d like to congratulate the following MFAs on their awards:
2nd Place, Best in Show:
Kaleidoscope by Toni Pizza, Aaron Freedman, and Diego Garcia
3rd Place, Best in Show:
Gemini by Atlas Chen and Nick Zhang
Excellence in Multiplayer:
Field-1 by Maxim Kolbowski-Frampton, Aaron Freedman, Shervin Ghazazani, and Dylan McKenzie
Excellence in Puzzle Design:
