On Saturday November 23rd the NYU Game Center hosted No Quarter our an annual playable exhibition where four newly commissioned works from leading artists working across games are debuted.
As always the event was free to attend and hundreds of enthusiast showed up at 370 Jay street in Brooklyn to play the games created by our incredible 2024 lineup.
Every year No Quarter commissions new work from leading artists working in games and related fields. These works premiere for one night only as part of the iconic No Quarter exhibition.

Izzy Kestrel presents Dreamscape Explorer
The year is 199X and you are an active participant on a niche online chatroom called “Pillow Talk”. Another chatter has recently discovered a strange program that allegedly allows them to explore the “Dream Network” that connects everyone around the world while they sleep. Rob Dubbin and Garrett Miller presents Tide Breakers
A local multiplayer city-council simulator for six players. Together you will guide the fate of Buabu, a coastal metropolis beset by rising seas, techno-feudalist politics, and other challenges of multi-species cosmopolitan society. Choose your faction and outvote your rivals to shape the future! Buabu believes!

Rob Dubbin and Garrett Miller make games together, starting with this one. Rob’s writing and development work has spanned outlets from The Colbert Report to the pico-8, including a magazine piece about the first No Quarter in 2010. Rob co-created the Scripto collaborative platform and also co-hosts the Eggplant game-design podcast. Garrett, meanwhile, has worked at the intersection of earth metals and electricity for over 20 years, making many shapes of software, games, and art. He’s worked as a designer, engineer, and product manager at Mapbox, Slack, and Figma. The best place to learn more about Rob and Garrett’s work is definitely No Quarter 2024. https://robdubbin.online

The venue is wheelchair accessible, seating will be available, transcriptions will be provided for audio only works. The environment includes low level lighting, music, projections and bright screens. There are quiet spaces with seating on the same floor as the exhibition that are easy to access.
